Q: My company has a Hicom 300 / Siemens 9006, and the Phonemail light on my Siemens Optipoint Standard does not turn on when there are new voicemails. What’s wrong, and how do I fix it?
A: On the Siemens 9006, if you have two nodes for voicemail (i.e. node 1 and node 2) then in the SCSU record, you must point the EVMS IDX (External Voicemail System IDX) to the node where your voicemail box is located. Otherwise the message waiting light will not work.
To determine in which node your voicemail box is located, dial into the voicemail and list your profile. Then verify that the EVMS IDX in the SCSU record is set for the corresponding node. This should cause the voicemail light to indicate when there is a new message waiting for you in the Phonemail server.
