Q: My company uses a Siemens Hicom 300 phone system and I need to add a fax machine at our main office location. How can I do this?
A: There are multiple options for adding a fax machine to your Hicom 300 PBX system. One option is, if you have an Optiset Basic, Optiset Advance or Optiset Advance Plus phone, you have the capability of attaching an analog adapter to the phone that you can then use to plug in a fax machine, modem, answering machine, or cordless phone.
- Optiset digital phone
- Analog adapter
- Power Supply
- Device that will be attached to the Analog Adapter (Such as a fax machine)
Following are the steps to program the software for the Analog Adapter:
First modify the TANEW field in SCSU (station record). See steps below:
1 – Deactivate the pen of the digital phone using AMO DSSU
2 – Change the following field using AMO SCSU or modify station configuration TANEW = ONANALG
3 – Either “;” and press enter, press F3 to save and continue or click on save.
The second step is to create the analog station which in AMO SCSU are add station configuration. Fill in all the appropriate fields and then be sure to do the following:
- PEN = leave blank
- DEVFUNC field = ANATE
- MAINO field = enter in the primary extension number that the analog adapter is to be plugged into.
Now activate the pen of the primary phone. Plug in the adapter to the phone and then make sure the power supply is between the wall outlet and the phone. Your fax machine or analog device should now be connected to your Hicom 300 phone system. Please give us a call if you have any problems or need additional technical support.
